résumé Plasma ion nitrided layers in an HSLA steel were characterized and tested for their effectiveness as barriers to impede hydrogen contamination. It was shown that these layers were up to three times harder than the substrate steel and that the hydrogen permeation was substantially reduced as compared to that of the untreated substrate steel
