résumé The aim of this paper is to study the fretting fatigue crack nucleation behavior of an aluminum alloy with a cylinder/plane contact. An experimental device rigidly mounted to a multiaxial servo hydraulic machine of fatigue. Applied stress was varied to obtain fretting fatigue crack initiation lives in both the low and high cyclic loading. Main features of fretting fatigue experiments were modelled and analysed with finite element analysis using Abaqus. Analytical prediction of the crack nucleation is presented with the Smith-Watson-Topper (SWT). A parametric study was conducted to analyze the influence of the critical distance around the initiation site.
