Some experimental support at a high Reynolds number to a new hypothesis for turbulence modeling

résumé A new dynamical subgrid model of 2D turbulence has been recently derived from the rapid distortion theory. This model is based on an hypothesis of nonlocality of the interaction of the scales of turbulence. The validity of this hypothesis was demonstrated by numerical simulation in 2D turbulence. It is supported here for real 3D turbulence at high Reynolds number by a spectral analysis of hot wire measurements in a turbulent boundary layer.
