Résumé :
Fluid flow and heat transfer significantly affect the efficiency, reliability and acoustic noise of positive displacement compressors. The presentation will give an overview of the research being carried out at POLO Labs, with especial attention to heat transfer in transient flow, differentially heated cavity and flow in micro channels. The talk will cover numerical models and test facilities adopted in the investigation of such phenomena. Some results will also be presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of current models and their importance on compressor optimization. Computational aeroacoustics is another important research area developed at POLO for aircraft noise prediction. An account of on-going work to characterize the flow field and acoustic noise of turbulent jets will be discussed.
